About ChaiFM
ChaiFM broadcasts from Johannesburg on 101.9 FM and describes itself as Africa's only Jewish community radio station and the world's only English-medium Jewish talk station. Its own history page records that the project began in 2005 and that a permanent community radio licence on 101.9 FM was awarded on 4 June 2007, after an original application for 89.1 FM whose footprint would have been localised to Alexandra. Programming is talk-led and spans news and current affairs, business, law, religion, community affairs and lifestyle. Alongside the Gauteng FM signal the station streams internationally through its website, a dedicated ChaiFM app, Telegram and TuneIn, and publishes its shows as podcasts.
