South African radio stations, streaming live

Radio Hub ZA is a directory of South African radio stations you can listen to online, in the browser you are already using. There is nothing to install and no account to make: open a station page, press play, and the stream starts. Every listing links to the broadcaster's own stream, so what you hear is the same broadcast going out on the dial.

The directory covers all nine provinces and all eleven official languages, from the national SABC services and the big commercial brands to the community stations that are often the only radio covering their town. Browse by city, province, genre or language, or search by name or frequency.

Each reviewed station page carries a profile written by us, the frequencies we have checked against the broadcaster's own published list, contact details, the weekly schedule where the station publishes one, and what is playing right now. If you are on a mobile bundle, the bitrate and the data cost per hour are on every page too, and the player has a Data Saver setting.

South African radio, all in one place

South Africa has one of the most varied radio landscapes anywhere: public services broadcasting in all eleven official languages, commercial stations dominating the metros, and hundreds of community licensees serving a single town or campus. Radio Hub ZA brings those live streams into one directory so you can move between them without hunting for a working link.

Every station gets its own page with the live stream, the frequencies it broadcasts on town by town, its language and format, its contact details where the station publishes them, and a stream-health check so you know the player will actually work before you press it. Your favourites and recently played stations are stored on your own device, not on an account.

Three things we do differently from the big international directories: we cover only South Africa, so a search for a station name never lands you on a same-named station in another country; we publish frequencies per city rather than one national figure, because FM licensing is local; and we file stations under the genres South Africans actually listen to — amapiano, gqom, kwaito and maskandi among them.

Frequently asked questions

Is it free to listen to radio on Radio Hub ZA?

Yes. Every station streams free in your browser. No signup, no app, no listening limit. The site is paid for by advertising.

Do I need to install an app?

No. The player runs in any browser on Android, iPhone, Windows, Mac and most smart TVs. You can also add Radio Hub ZA to your home screen and it opens like an app.

How much data does online radio use?

A 128 kbps music stream uses roughly 57 MB an hour. A 64 kbps talk stream is about 28 MB. Every station page lists its bitrate and the hourly data cost, so you can pick a cheaper stream on a mobile bundle.

How do I find a station's frequency?

Open the station's page — each one lists its transmitter frequencies town by town. You can also browse the dial city by city from the frequency guide.

Why does a station sometimes fail to play?

The audio comes straight from the broadcaster, so if their stream is offline or capped it will not play here either. We test every stream automatically, show the last check time on each station page, and retire the ones that stay down.

Can I listen to South African radio from outside South Africa?

Usually yes — most South African streams are open worldwide. Some live sport is geo-blocked by the rights holder rather than by the station.
